Apple In-Ear.. Mario Kart Wii..

25 Apr 2008 In: Life

Hey,

Apple In-Ear Headphones

Today I bought some new Apple In-Ear headphones for £24.99, they are pretty awesome I must say but I need to get used to them a bit, they also seem to stick out a bit and I look odd wearing them.. Oh well, it’s the music that counts, and great bass response from my new headphones! Well, they suit my iPod classic quite well anyway :)

Mario Kart Wii

I popped Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Mario Strikers Charged in my College bag this morning, I was hoping to trade them in at Game so it would only cost £9.99 for Mario Kart Wii, I checked the day before yesterday so I knew I wouldn’t have much luck today. I knew it, out of stock :/

So we went to Gamestation, had a little go on Wii Fit (There was demos out) which was a bit too awesome and then I traded in my games and got Mario Kart Wii (Which was actually in stock) for £8.99! I was better off going to Gamestation then Game so I’m glad Game didn’t have any stock in or I would have spent/wasted a £1 :) Very lucky bargain hunting if you ask me ;)

Job hunt and a half

10 Apr 2008 In: Life

Never knew looking for a job would be this hard. Anyway, my Cousin Debbie has helped me create a CV, and I just edited it a bit this morning and it looks goooood. It just fits under 2 A4 pages so it’s got a bit of content and hopefully some people will ring me back and offer me a job, but you know what life is like.. It’s not going to be that simple.

What I’m going to do now is hand it into as many Coffee shops and Cafe’s as I can, and I will also be picking up application forms from places too. I need the money for my contract phone, and I want to go to a few Christian events in the Summer so if it means having to work at McDonalds then so be it, it’s money at the end of the day anyway.

Facebook

To all the Facebook readers out there, I have just re-created my account and I am now officially addicted to it. It’s crazy, I might even end up saying to people “I’ll Facebook you about it later” etc. I mean how sad can you get? But the thing is, I only add people I know personally so don’t bother adding me :P

Anyway, I’ve been busy lately doing all sorts of things and I need to straighten my hair (Yes, I even straighten short hair now) so I can hand in a CV to a local Coffee/Cafe/Bar (whatever it is) that’s right near me.

I am Christian

30 Mar 2008 In: Life

I never knew how emotional Spring Harvest was going to be, it’s changed my life. I broke down all the barriers between me and God and I’ve connected to him, and asked him to forgive me for my sins. It’s actually changed my life, I’ve really changed and become a better person. I picked up a stone and I walked and then dropped it to the ground, along with all my sins and everything I’m ashamed of.

I have had the most emotional week of my life, trying to figure out who I really am and I talked to God about it. God has given me confidence to sing and worship God and not care about what anyone else thinks. The band playing at iScape Spring Harvest 2008 is amazing, and everyone I met there. Some people I have met have really inspired me. I have shaved my head and had the top of my head cut really short, I did this so I can start afresh with my hair, and to start afresh with my life.

I am not ashamed to say it, I love God and choosing to be a Christian has been the best decision of my life.

My Quest

24 Mar 2008 In: Life

Intro

Okay first off, you don’t have to read this if you don’t want too. I will most probably bore you, but if I do then why are you on my personal website?

Also I might upload a few photos that have been took of me the last few weeks or so, and from Spring Harvest etc when I get back from my break. Some are pretty funny, classic Lee.

Christianity

I am going on a 5 day break at Butlins with my sister, her fiance and a cousin, there I will be meeting up with another cousin and hundreds (or thousands) of people who all have something in common. This is a massive Christian event called Spring Harvest where all these Christians meet up, have a great time and have fun, and talk to God.

Now I wouldn’t say I’m a dedicated Christian, I just haven’t been that person the last half a year or so, I’ve done things that I shouldn’t have done, but we’ve all done these things. I’m just figuring out who I really am, who I want to be and how I want to go about my life.

I went to a small Christian event on Easter Sunday with my sister and her fiance, and met up with a cousin and an auntie. It was a good night, it was a new experience for me. There was hundreds of the hardcore Christians there (And I mean hardcore) and we all had a good night, singing along to great music, listening to real life stories on how people have experienced God and there came to a point where we all said a prayer (This guy on the microphone on the stage told us to close our eyes), so my eyes where closed and this guy asked if they are going through a really hard time at the moment or need to experience Jesus then raise your hands now, so there I was with my eyes closed and I slowly raised my hand. I felt like I was the only one to do this, I just raised my hand slowly and kept my eyes closed for a further few minutes. I then stood up and my sisters fiance (I should give him a name, so Ric) stood up with me and gave me support, asking me if I wanted him to come with me to the front and get prayed for. I kept on standing, holding back the tears (this was so emotional for me at the time) and for a further few minutes, I stood there with Ric. I then looked back to see everyone else sat down around me, and Ric and I were the only ones standing (apart from the people getting prayed for at the front), so I walked down slowly and asked for someone to prayer for me and then there it was. Stood there for a few minutes, praying.

I didn’t ‘feel’ anything when I was getting prayed for but I felt I opened the doors for Jesus to contact me in some way, so maybe during Spring Harvest, I will have an experience.

Sexuality

This is where my quest comes in, I guess I didn’t mention my sexuality. I guess, the truth is, I’m really unsure about my sexuality, although I’ve come out as bi now to my family, and with a small group of friends I’ve come out as gay. Messed up? Yeah. I just want to be sure so I can label myself with something, whether it’s Gay, Bisexual or Straight, I’m just fed up with my family making jokes or not ‘approving’ of some things about Gay and Lesbian people, and it just does my head in because it doesn’t feel like I’ve ‘come out’ at all to them.

My Quest

So at Spring Harvest, I’m going to talk to several people about their views on Sexuality and I’m going to find out if it’s accepted By Christianity and God. I’m going to stay quiet about my sexuality there until I’m sure and certain it is accepted because I don’t want to meet people there and say ‘Oh and by the way, I’m unsure about my sexuality!’. All I need to know is if it’s accepted, if I can go to church as openly Bi or Gay and no one minding about it.

I also want to be able to be in contact with God somehow, and I am going to prayer by myself every so often during Spring Harvest. If I get anything, any sort of feel and I know that it’s God, I’ll be happy. If not then I guess I’m going to have to go to Church (I’m going to find a nice modern one that I feel comfortable in) and make a change of my life.

Me

I guess I’m same old Lee and always will be, nothing will be changed and I will never change because I don’t care about what anyone thinks. If someone in College or anywhere says something to me, or they don’t like me, then I don’t care, I’m not fussed with what anyone thinks.

I am me.

Garden State

22 Mar 2008 In: Film

What a movie

I’ve been a fan of Scrubs for a little while now, and a fan of Zach Braff. If you don’t know what Scrubs is, it’s an American Sitcom based on Interns in a Hospital called Sacred Heart, It sounds totally boring by my relatively un-imaginitave description but it’s a great show, with a bit of drama in the mix too, and the music that gets featured in Scrubs is great (I have now added all the songs from Scrubs: Season One into my music collection).

And if you don’t know who Zach Braff is, well he’s JD in Scrubs and he’s the main character, the stupid guy. But anyway, I guess Zach Braff hasn’t really done anything else other than Scrubs, here’s when Garden State comes along..

Garden State is such an odd but original film, I wouldn’t say it’s a comedy, it’s a romance, but then again there are some totally weird scenes. It’s just a weird film, set around the main character named Andrew Largeman who comes back home to New Jersey, for his Mothers Funeral. Back home, he avoids his father and meets with his old friends for rounds of parties. In a doctors office, he meets a girl named Sam, an epileptic who has a lust for life and music. She inspires Andrew to feel things that his medication long denied him. He develops feelings for Sam he didn’t know he was capable of, and faces up to the resentment his father holds toward him about an accident that happened long ago. It’s an emotional ride, but to me, it’s a must see.

The music in Garden State has been picked by Zach Braff himself too, all of it is brilliant and has really added to the emotion of the film, although maybe it’s best seen only the once. Note - I would insert a little image of Garden State but it messes the formatting up so it’s best not eh?

Hope you enjoyed my little summary of Garden State, it is a brilliant movie and Zach Braff is brilliant in it. Excuse me while I watch some Scrubs now..

I’m ill -_-

I’m ill

The last 3 days have been crap, seriously not fun at all. Been in bed for 3 days and although it sounds like fun to you, it gets really uncomfortable after a short while. I have some sort of Virus and it’s not very nice, it’s not like the whole puking up type bug, it’s just the nasty cold, but it’s not a cold because my lips seem swelled and so have my eyes. My Dad thinks it’s just me, but It hurts when I move my eyes etc. And I sometimes nearly choke after I have a horrible cough and my phlegm comes up, yeah it’s pretty gross..

Ubuntu Tweak

On the lighter side however, I have been helping the creator/developer of Ubuntu Tweak with his spelling and grammar and the changes I made will be in the next major version (0.3 - April 24th) and I will be credited too.

Boxhead

Because i’ve been ill for a few days, I’ve improved on my Boxhead playing, now I’m getting quite the professional..

If you don’t know what Boxhead is, check out the games here -

http://boxhead.seantcooper.com/TheGames.aspx

My personal favourite game out of all of them is Boxhead: More rooms, this is because they keep it simple in this one, and they have my favourite room ‘The Maze’.

People who say ‘lol’

13 Mar 2008 In: Life

One thing that does annoy me, people who say ‘lol’. I mean what’s the big deal with ‘lol’?

People who say ‘lol’

1. Okay, everyone knows what ‘lol’ means, and if you don’t, it’s short for Laugh Out Loud, but in most cases when people use it, they don’t laugh out loud.

2. This evil word is a conversation killer, on Messenger anyway. Mind you, the typical conversation on Messenger nowadays goes something along the lines of this:

Lee Says:

Hey

Person Says:

Hey

Lee Says:

How are you?

Person Says:

Okay, how are you?

Lee Says:

Not bad thanks

Person Says:

Kwl

Lee Says:

So wuu2

Person Says:

Nout really you?

Lee Says:

Same I guess.

Person Says:

Okay

And that is a typical conversation on Messenger, so what is the point of actually signing onto a Messenger Client if everyone says the same thing?

3. On the odd but regular case of someone saying this abbreviated word, it’s when there is nothing else to say, or you don’t know what to say and feel awkward. So sometimes you may get this when you say something:

Lee Says:

I need to tell you something, I’m pregnant..

Person Says:

lol! LOL

Obviously i’m not pregnant and never will be since i’m male, but that’s an example..

4. I say the word ‘lol’ lot’s of times myself but I usually use an alternative to try and stop being common (No offence ‘lol’ users :P). The alternatives I may use are:

  • He he
  • I am laughing out loud, literally.
  • Hah!
  • Yeah!
  • ..

So there you have it, a few examples you may want to use. I’ve been wanting to rant about this for a while because it is starting to do my head in lol!

Ubuntu Tweak 0.2.10 Released

12 Mar 2008 In: Ubuntu Linux

Hello fellow Lee Followers,

Ubuntu Tweak 0.2.10 is Released and you can get more information on what’s changed in this version here:

http://ubuntu-tweak.com/2008/03/12/ubuntu-tweak-0210-released.html#more-58

And you can download it from here:

http://ubuntu-tweak.com/downloads

If you don’t know what Ubuntu Tweak, it is a small, but powerful application that lets you quickly and easily configure your Linux Box’s settings. Of course, this is for Linux users only ;) So if  you haven’t got it yet then I suggest downloading Ubuntu 7.10.

I am keeping an eye on the development on this project as the project grows bigger, with regular releases every week or so, development is at full steam. Every time I reinstall Ubuntu, this is one of the first applications I download, because through Ubuntu Tweak, I can ‘unleash’ my CPU and let it use as much processing power as it can, just by sliding the little bar on Ubuntu Tweak from 85% to 100%, and the results are instantanious!

I will keep you posted on development of Ubuntu Tweak so watch this space guys,

Lee
